-
Remain in
your unit unless the fire is taking
place there.
-
Call 911 and report the fire/emergency. Do not call the front desk - you will waste valuable time and
tie up phone lines.
-
Tune into the LPP Lobby Channel (950) for updated details. In the event of a power outage, the LPP Safety Director
will ask responding emergency personnel to circulate updated details and information as
quickly as possible.
-
Stay put unless emergency personnel direct
otherwise. If you are told to leave, do so immediately! Do not try and rescue valuables -- they are meaningless if you
fail to escape.
-
Listen for
instructions given by emergency personnel.
-
While in your unit, stay calm. Keep all doors closed and
stuff wet rags or towels in the
cracks of the doors. Wait by a window and if possible, open it and let fresh air in - close the window
immediately if smoke starts to come into
your unit.
-
Remain calm.
If
you must leave your unit:
-
Test
doors before opening them - stay low and with the back of your hand,
test the knob and door frame. If these areas are cool, brace your
shoulder against the door and open it carefully. Be prepared to slam it
shut if heat or smoke rush in.
-
Determine a safe exit (see floor map above), and crawl low to the floor and
under the smoke. Stay clear and out of the way of emergency personnel.
The LPP Safety Director will notify emergency personnel of occupants
requiring special assistance for evacuating the building. These
occupants will be identified using the LPP
Resident Information Sheets.
-
DO
NOT USE THE ELEVATORS! Go to the nearest stairwell that is free of
smoke and fire.
-
Once
outside, inform emergency personnel of anyone that may have been left
behind or may need special assistance.
-
Do not
return to the building until emergency personnel have determined it safe
to do so.
